1. Don't lean too far into one side. Don't be too empathetic. Don't be too blinded by loyalty. Don't judge according to love.
Two days ago, I realized that there are sacrifices you don't have to make. There are stands you don't have to take. You may throw all your support behind one person, you may feel all the pain that one person feels, but in the end.. It won't be worth it. Trust me.
Because there are two sides to a story, two parties to a conflict.. And when you stand beside that one person on one side, and the person on the opposite saw you; when everything is okay between the two of them, when that happens all too often, say hello to a lost friendship.
You can bet that the person on the opposite side remembers, and you.. will be the one hated. Despised.
Now I know what (one of, anyways) my weakness is. I cannot be just. If I love you, if I trust you, I'll hate everyone that you hate, and I'll tolerate everyone that you love. And it's costing me dearly.
So no more I think? InsyaAllah.
